Sketches & Works #16 FINAL December 6-13 2009







































Finals are coming up and this is the final push before semester is over! With Pradeep Sen we are beginning plans for our big game project next semester course. The concept currently we are playing with is the New World and the Spanish coming to conquer to Aztecs and we are currently developing ideas for a hack and slash RPG. I decided to make it completely over the top style withe the Rule of Cool idea for the lulz.

1. Spanish fleet mecha- Just a fun idea I was playing with to make the game outright ridiculous yet awesome. The spanish fleet led by Cortez transform into giant mecha like robots that attack the natives with their superior technology. That being said, the natives and Aztecs will have "tribal/shamanistic magic" and maybe their pyramids transform into giant stone leopards.

2. Naval General- This was for a manga I am working for, one of the naval military generals, he is a weapons specialist and uses various swords that he collects from his enemies. Normall he duel wields a short cutlass and rapier, he is also equipped with a dagger, 2 throwing knives, 2 giant falchions, 1 short sword, 1 katana, 1 chinese dao, not to mention a hidden crossbow in his sleeve.

3. Cortez- Since most likely the bad guys are Spanish for the game I decided to make Cortez as over the top badass as possible. He wields a tri barred single hand shotgun, a longsword that conjures the flames of hell. Oh and dont forget he has a huge big cloud/storm of evil that rains meteors on the Indians that will be lampshaded (People can tell if he is coming based on the cloud). Oh and his cape can attack people too.

Sketches & Works #15 November 31- December 6, 2009


































1. Xeraxius the Bladelord: This was actually my very first Photoshop work, I always liked the idea of floating weapons that spin and attack enemies. The color was pretty bad because I didnt know how to use layers at that time ><

2. The Red Dragon God: This sketch (with a crappy parchemnt texture I made). Yea got the idea from the red dragons in Dungeon & Dragons.

3. Quick cover for AGL game Magnetic Defender I made.

Sketches & Works #14 November 22-29 2009







Whew so much school work it is the final push!

1. Airship model the Bezzarius (previous painting from my last sketches and works shows a concept sketch of it) I added the Asmodeus fighter models in it to show the size scale of the airship. Texturing will go to Travis for the animation we will do for the IFDM final.

2. Test frame sketches, this video shows 17 rough sketch frames for the IFDM final animation. I will have to fine line it and color then it impose it on a sky battle (they fighting on a tower or some ship). Traditional disney frame sketch is painfulz (it looks choppy but due to time constraints it will have to do).

3. Animation me and my friends are working on to promote a webcomic we are going to release next year. It is just a progress test not even half done (also we need to clean out some of the faulty scenes and frames to make it look professional) Still I think it doesnt look too bad.

Sketches & Works #13 November 15 - 22 2009























Okidoki, working on final IFDM project has begun! I have been busy working on concept art for our product Ferrum Ordo, The Iron Order. the game universe takes place in a steampunk modern hybrid style.

1. Government Trooper: Concept idea I made for a military soldier in this universe, I got the idea from FFXIII Versus trailer with all the armored soldiers using machine guns. Since this worlds metal technology is superior and plastics have just recently been discovered (so no kevlar) the soldiers would use ceramic zirconia armor (which is extremely light and harder than metal). Most of their equipment is in metal or wood (metal is a huge abundance in this universe). Since weapons are roughly WWI technology, they use a rifle with a bayonet, a shortsword and grenades.

2. Asmodeous Fighter: Although the physical weapons are WWI style, their flying technology is far superior due to the existence of magic, here is a 3D model in Maya untextured for the animation. If you look closely it has a bunch of steam exhausts on the side and on the bottom there are pipes. It is armed with dual gattling guns (guided missiles dont exist yet only rockets). It has a Arcanix Engine which is powered by magic energy in this world to allow it to fly.

3. The Bezzarius: Quick speedpainting with Photoshop concept art of the flying capital dreadnought cruiser, the Bezzarius. It is a massive airship with 6 massive Arcanix Engines and can be used as a flying aircraft carrier to hold over 50 Asmodeouus Fighters. It is almost three times larger than the Leviathan cruiser and is armed with 9 heavy deck guns (pops out from the top in combat), 200 light anti aircraft turrets, 40 heavy tribarreled Daedelus howitzers at the bottom and a massive Arysist Aether Distrupter (its essentially a giant magic EMP cannon that can disable entire fleets per shot).

Sketches and Works 12 November 8-15 2009











1. Concept Art of a city that is built on the roof crust and buildings are built downwards towards a source of light below.
2. Generals, decided to practice drawing some cartoon faces. Below are the generals with their helmets similar to the armored judge idea from FFXII.
3. Fighter jet pixel sprite i am making for a 2D space defender game. This is the large version of the sprite. In reality its 3 times smaller than this. Its a light spaceish fighter unit.

Sketches and Works #11 November 1-8 2009
























1. Steampunk border I made for the cover for business plan for game company.

2. AGL Missile Defender I am working on a cover. It is the rough sketch outline. I will paint colors and add sky/smoke particles. Was looking in the in game models and essentially detail souped it up.

3. Heroes from the political story I am working on with my friends concept line art for comic. All these individuals die horrible deaths or go crazy in the final arc though >.>

Sketches and Works #10 October 28 - November 1 2009

Okidoki, halloween is over and stuff.

1. Sketch of some armored person. Fights with a giant zweilhander and a short sword. His combat strategy is using the larger sword more as a parrying weapon since it has larger cover and to push the enemy with its weight while beating them with the shortsword.

2. Small toy piano I made for someones website.

3. Twin swords icon for bucaneer bonanza game icon.
